Media has been at the forefront of the impact of the changes wrought by digital technology. Schumpeterís ëgale of creative destructioní is perfectly well illustrated in this landscape. Its impact is greatest in print media, but electronic media have their own adjustments to make, and borders between media are increasingly convergent or blurred. In this chapter the nature of digitization and its implications for broadcasting are examined. The consequent changes in the analysis of broadcasting, and the nature of policy changes required are also presented.
