Steven Medema Steven Medema was born in Muskegon, Michigan in 1963 and obtained his BA in economics at Calvin College in 1985 and his MA and PhD in economics from Michigan State University in 1987 and 1989 respectively. He joined the Department of Economics at the University of Colorado Denver in 1989 as an Assistant Professor of Economics and has remained there ever since, currently serving as Professor of Economics and President’s Teaching Scholar. At UC Denver, Professor Medema teaches undergraduate courses in Principles of Microeconomics, Intermediate Microeconomics, History of Economic Thought, Law and Economics, Public Finance, and Economic Policy Analysis, and a graduate course in Microeconomic Theory. UC Denver’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences awarded him its Teaching Excellence Award in 1992 and 2006. His research interests include the history of economic thought, law and economics, and public economics. His articles have been published in journals such as the History of Political Economy, Journal of History of Economic Thought, Journal of Public Economics, American Journal of Economics and Sociology, and Economics and Philosophy, among others.
