Chapter 6: Transboundary aquifer agreements and arrangements
Restricted access

This chapter will explore the very few examples of transboundary aquifer bilateral and regional cooperation. Rather than analysing the different examples separately, the chapter discusses agreements and arrangements together in three different stages. First, it explores the difference between agreement and arrangement in the context of transboundary aquifer cooperation. Second, the analysis will dwell on the normative content of the agreements and arrangements. Third, the chapter explores the implementation landscape and clarifies whether there been any institutional and normative follow up to the mere adoption of the agreement or arrangement.
