Chapter 5: Public-private institutions, case studies
Restricted access

Chapter 5 presents five case studies that may be viewed through an autopoietic lens. Those case studies include Unitaid and the Global Partnership for Education, which are virtual, hosted public-private institutions (PPIs). The Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Gavi Vaccine Alliance started as institutions hosted in part, and reorganized into independent legal entities, with some attributes of traditional international organizations, including some privileges and immunities. The Global Water Partnership began as a hosted initiative and reorganized into an international personality comprised and a separate network of non-State actors without legal personality.
