Chapter 3: Ethics and integrity in publishing

This chapter focuses on issues regarding research ethics. As we note in the chapter ethics and integrity matter in almost every aspect of research and publishing. To recognize the broader importance of this subject matter in the discipline, this chapter reviews a number of issues regarding ethics and integrity. The focus is on issues that are closely related to writing and publishing journal articles, but because these activities are closely intertwined with the research process, we also engage in a broader discussion of research ethics. These include issue regarding fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, self-plagiarism and other forms of research misconduct.
