Purpose-driven alliances are facing sincere challenges in an ambiguous and dynamic world. To make sense of the complexity in the environment alliances are operating and to create and manage alliances for a sustainable world multiple capabilities are needed for alliance managers and values-based leaders. Six perspectives on values-based leadership are elaborated to guide purpose-driven alliances in their development The six leadership perspectives focus on developing an analytical mindset, being open to what is going on in the world, making sense in uncertainty, contextual awareness, social awareness, self-awareness and a considered view on change processes and transformations. The future of purpose-driven alliances is explored with six key elements related to trust and confidence, purpose and values, governance and transparency, local presence and global impact, play and playfulness, and intention and intuition.
