Chapter 14: Occupational pensions and the protection of mobile persons
Restricted access

While EU legislation has contributed substantially towards removing some of the obstacles mobile workers face regarding their occupational pensions, such as by limiting waiting and vesting periods and introducing non-discriminatory treatment of accrued pension rights belonging to workers, some drawbacks remain. These drawbacks can result in a (partial) loss of pension rights for mobile Europeans. This contribution aims to assess what the current opportunities and drawbacks are in EU pension legislation and what is required to improve the protection of EU mobile persons from the perspective of occupational pensions, in particular in the context of the IORP II review.
