Chapter 18: Social security, social protection, GATS and the new generation of EU trade agreements
Restricted access

This chapter deals with the promotion by the European Union of social protection in the world. The authors analyse the European Union’s approach to social protection for workers in global value chains. This involves not only an overview of EU policies on social protection in its development and trade relationships, but also of a discussion of the role of the private sector in relation to social protection in global value chains, as well as the (potential for) EU involvement in this respect.
