Chapter 2: Advancing collective scholarship through the National Leadership Education Research Agenda

The second iteration of the National Leadership Education Research Agenda (2020–25) built upon the inaugural agenda (2013-18) with updates in both process and content. The most recent agenda centers identity and critical theoretical approaches in the call to action for leadership education researchers and practitioners. Though the call for submissions represented 21 countries, the final publication is United States-centric in its approach to the future of leadership education research. This summary of both the process and content of the research agenda provides a transferable snapshot for diverse leadership learning contexts. It culminates in a call to action and suggests priorities for the advancement of leadership education scholarship for the next five years.
