This chapter describes the demographics of the Phase II recipient firms that responded to the various rounds of data collection surveys. Specifically, the Phase II awards are characterized in terms of the gender and minority status of the owners of the firms awarded research support by SBIR funding agencies. These data form the basis for the remaining chapters.
