The chapter explores the issue of the entrepreneurial university of the future, both concept and practice. Key concepts include: the design of organisations around the dynamics of the task environment; related appropriate definitions of enterprise and entrepreneurship; their relationship to innovation of all kinds; how entrepreneurship sits with the traditional ‘idea’ of a university; Mode 2 forms of learning; public value; stakeholder relationship development and the learning organisation; and entrepreneurial organisation design and leadership. The practice builds from the experience of the Entrepreneurial University Leaders Programme and issues raised therein with a focus upon the nature and causes of increasing uncertainty and complexity and the responses and opportunities explored.
