The aim of this chapter is to explore the subject of the general principles of EU law from a comparative law perspective. Instead of providing a descriptive overview of the cases in which the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) has relied on explicit comparative analysis in its case law, this chapter will analyse the role of comparative law.
