This chapter gives an overview of recent economic research on the bidirectional relationship between migration and trade. It shows that trade liberalisation is unlikely to lead to a reduction in migration from poor to rich countries. Instead, migration and trade appear as complements, with strong and robust evidence of the trade-creating effects of migration.
