This chapter explores the impact of humanitarianism on youth living in the Dadaab refugee camps, a remote site in northeastern Kenya, near the Somalia border. Few refugee youth in camps complete high school and an even smaller number manage to access university; an outcome that is much more dire for female than male refugee youth. Life in a refugee camp impacts the transitions of girls and boys to adulthood, including their own thinking and planning for the future.
