Chapter 14: Online social connectedness and well-being among older adults in the USA
Restricted access

Older adults are the fastest growing demographic group in the United States and around the world. While older adults are increasingly crossing the digital divide, digital inequalities that have significant implications for older adults' health and quality of life remain. Drawing on empirical results from a study of older adults in the U.S. (N = 1,138), this chapter discusses key aspects of online social connectedness that positively impact well-being among older adults. Implications of these findings are noted for technology developers as well as researchers and others who try to address digital inequalities among older adults.
