Smart tourism in China has been experiencing rapid development with increasing recognition and promotion from the Chinese government. This chapter reviews the development of smart tourism and its pertinent issues. It first presents the history of smart tourism development in China, followed by discussions from the perspectives of various stakeholders coupled with examples. The chapter concludes by providing general implications for smart tourism development and management. It highlights the need for the cohesiveness and integration of smart tourism with other smart destination infrastructure.
