This chapter examines human resource management (HRM) issues in the tourism industry in China. It first reviews a body of selected HRM literature. The selected literature covers the HRM practices in tourist enterprises, individual behaviours of employees, and the macro-level practices in China. It then identifies the heated fields in tourism HRM research over the past 20 years, at organizational, individual and regional levels. Past studies are summarized, classified with their features identified; and future directions for tourism HRM research in China are discussed.
