Chapter 28 discusses sustainability-oriented business incubation as a relatively new and emerging topic. The authors emphasize the contribution of their work as threefold: First, they provide a conceptual framework which makes it possible to identify starting points and key factors for effectively integrating sustainability into the framing, design and impact assessment of business incubation programs. Second, they provide a comprehensive overview of tools and methods which can be used for sustainability-oriented business model development. Third, for the first time they provide data on the use of these tools and methods in business incubation practice and entrepreneurship research. The chapter ends with the managerial implications for future sustainability-oriented business incubation, pointing out knowledge gaps that could be addressed in future research.
