This chapter discusses the inclusion of the discipline ‘Informational Sustainability’ in graduate programs as a way of inserting Information Science in the context of the dimensions of Sustainable Development. Informational Sustainability is evidenced as an informational mechanism of access, dissemination and use of sustainable information, aiming at institutionalization, organization and awareness of the information society, with a goal to provide a present quality of life without compromising that of future generations. The proposal of the study plan and the methodology of the discipline were based on Professor Jan Nolin’s study in 2010. This methodology allows the student to obtain information about the context of Sustainable Development and provide informational support for global objectives through participation in seminars, socialization of readings and discussion of the topic and through the development of scientific studies. Based on the studies carried out to write this chapter, it is recommended that higher education institutions that offer undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of Information Science and its sub-areas make the discipline Informational Sustainability available. With this, it is expected that higher education institutions offer pedagogical proposals with curricular content on social, environmental and economic problems worldwide, emphasizing the importance of human beings’ role in society and their commitment to individual and collective actions to improve life and preserve the planet today and for future generations.
