The Journal of Qualitative Research in Tourism is now available

December 11, 2020

We are delighted to announce the publication of Volume 1, Issue 1 of the Journal of Qualitative Research in Tourism which is now available in print and via Elgaronline.

The Journal of Qualitative Research in Tourism furthers the frontiers of knowledge and understanding of tourism research and its applications by providing an interdisciplinary forum for qualitative research. Researchers can share their work with others and discuss the issues raised by using qualitative approaches in their research practice. The journal will be a valuable resource for those interested in either tourism research or qualitative methodology and has four main objectives:

  • To provide a forum for meaningful discussion and application of qualitative research to tourism phenomena.
  • To offer a holistic account of qualitative research in tourism by forging links between the theory and practice of qualitative research across the tourism domain.
  • To offer outstanding contributions to the philosophies underpinning qualitative research that will advance tourism knowledge and offer new ways to address tourism in the mobile, digital and complex 21st century.
  • To develop and nurture methods in qualitative research and to encourage the use of unique or underused qualitative research instruments.

JQRT will publish biannually (excluding from 2020). Subscription information is available via, or alternatively please contact
