According to Elliot et al., agreement is one of the two core concepts, the other being awareness, that make it easier to pragmatically understand higher order concepts such informed consent and transparency. Data subjects can be aware of processing of their data without having agreed to it or vice versa.
The term is also used more formally to refer to the contractual underpinnings for data access arrangements such user agreements and data sharing agreements.
