Anti-malware software is designed to protect users from a broad range of malicious software or malware. Anti-malware can be installed on mobile devices, standalone computers or on whole networks. Similar to anti-virus software, anti-malware protects against computer viruses, worms and trojan horses, but may also protect against other threats such as spyware, adware, and ransomware attacks. Depending on the design, it may use a combination of deep packet inspection, signature detection, behaviour fingerprinting and/or sandboxing to identify and prevent security attacks.
