Artificial Intelligence (AI) constitutes an important field of computer science, which during the last two decades took (a further) upswing with intriguing improvements in a lot of domains, amongst them also human resources (HR). Following discussions and developments in practice, also research started to consider AI in HR - therewith tackling an intriguing, relevant, and manifold field of research. The current chapter serves as an introduction into the current handbook on research on AI in HR. To do so, initially basics of AI in HR are elaborated by offering a definition, a categorization, and an overview on the history and state of AI in HR. Based on this, current research on AI in HR is briefly and roughly outlined to derive the objectives of the handbook. Finally, the structure and the chapters of the handbook are respectively introduced.
