Full access

The Principles of Microeconomics course offers the chance to introduce students to the study of how markets have made possible the specialization, trade, and innovation that make possible the vast wealth of the rich countries of the world. At the same time, the basic tools of microeconomics yield important insights for addressing the pressing challenges of modern society, including predatory monopolies, pollution and climate change, the unequal distribution of resources among and within nations, and ongoing discrimination on the basis of gender and race – topics that our students are eager to explore. In this volume we have assembled the wisdom of eminent scholars of economic education on how best to introduce students to our discipline and to inspire a passion for microeconomics. The practical suggestions for teaching great Principles of Microeconomics courses will improve the courses of new teachers and those who have taught economics for many years.
