This chapter reflects on the contents of the book, first via an examination of how housing became to be a defining issue of our time, and second via a reflection on the theories informing housing research. I also discuss the research process and future prospects of housing research to inform evidence-based policy-making toward a more inclusive and environmentally friendly future. The chapter closes with an overview of the specific chapters contained in this volume. Global trends considered include affordability, financialization, informality and the social construction and historical contingencies of housing as a topic of study.
