This chapter acknowledges the educational implications surrounding the immigration status of school-aged children and their families, a president who has publicly focused on immigrants through policies and heightened rhetoric, a change in climate in and around schools due to these policies and political rhetoric, and the subsequent trauma of school-aged children and families. The chapter outlines the challenges school leaders face in the Trump era as they educate all children, regardless of their immigration status or that of their parents. This chapter concludes by wondering if school leaders should be moved by ethics, rather than compliance and legality, in the education of immigrant children. This type of ethical leadership has the potential to provide a protective, supportive, and caring environment for vulnerable immigrant students and their caregivers.
