In many Continental countries, copyright contract law encompasses mandatory rules aimed at protecting creative people in their relationships with publishers and producers. The freedom of contract may especially be restricted to ensure that authors and performers receive an adequate remuneration. The chapter provides an analysis of various statutory provisions in some European countries with a view to achieve this goal.
