This chapter describes a social innovation project developed for the Global Leadership Laboratory courses at San Jose State University. The project involves multicultural student teams who learn design thinking and educate themselves on a global social problem with local ramifications. They devise a social innovation idea that is submitted to a university-sponsored social innovation competition. In addition to feedback on their project, students receive 360 evaluations on their team performance. The project’s developmental potential, with respect to social innovation and global leadership competencies, is analyzed with the help of research frameworks and supported by student feedback.
