Education in tourism is the process of facilitating learning a lifelong process and fundamental prerequisite for the achievement of sustainable tourism. Geotourism is a niche form of tourism with emphasis on geo-knowledge transfer and geo-education. This research has two major purposes: (1) to introduce geotourism as a form of educational, research and scientific tourism, and (2): to identify the essential information required for successful geotourism interpretation. Among the diversity of available interpretation resources, this study highlights the role of the tour guide, interpretative panels and signs, art and performance, self-guided pedestrian trails and geoproducts.
