In recent years the academy has witnessed a steady growth in the number of qualitative researchers harnessing a range of artistic forms to inform their practice. To date this work has tended to be either literary, dramatic or visual in nature, with markedly fewer studies utilising dance and movement. In this chapter, we concentrate on dance and movement, reflecting on the ways in which it has featured in the literature, most notably as either research subject, means of data generation or for the purpose of data representation. In presenting this work we ultimately seek to unveil dance and movement as an evocative moving form, capable of engendering empathy and critical awareness.
