Sonja Rispens

Historically, conflict was perceived as a process that only had negative consequences. A more optimistic viewpoint of conflict emerged and focused on the positive outcomes. Currently, a contingency perspective of conflict is dominant in our thinking about conflict’s consequences. I present some recent studies in which various moderating factors are presented that determine whether conflicts will have beneficial or detrimental consequences. Furthermore, I discuss some suggestions for future research on the topic of conflict at work.
