Chapter 8: The dissemination and implementation of results of foresight activities
Dissemination and implementation are crucial elements in any foresight exercise without which decision-making and action would remain futile aspirations. How can foresight proposals be planned and designed to include effective communication and implementation strategies? Why are foresight activities relevant for decision-makers? How can this relevance be communicated? Are researchers aware of the decision-making processes their results are intended to influence? How can researchers ensure that their work is effectively communicated to key decision-makers? How can results be communicated so as to ensure that action is taken to implement key recommendations? COST A22 was designed to create four working groups. Working Group 3 was assigned the task of focusing on interactions between researchers, decision-makers and the public. The initial brief for Working Group 3 included the assertion that process is at least as important as product.
