Chapter 4: Symbiotic knowledge

Symbiotic knowledge is knowledge derived from the attempt to solve problems by combining knowledge of different dimensions. Knowledge dimension is defined by limitations specialists have in understanding theories. While knowledge of varying fields varies in degree, I would like to refer to their variation as dimensions of knowledge. There are cases where new products are created while possessing a high level of specialty, and by synthesizing knowledge of completely different types. In some instances, problems which are considered impossible may be resolved. Conjugate strategy is a domain to connect different dimensions of knowledge in collective strategies. New creation becomes possible by combining knowledge of varying dimensions. For instance, it is difficult for a medical expert to understand mechanical engineering, and it is difficult for a literary expert to organize a molecular-biological experiment. This is because each area of specialized talent has invested the length of time to establish the level of specialty. No matter how superior the general ability of the person in question may be, in order to gain a high level of specialty, they require a long time to tackle specific problems. The need to connect knowledge of different dimensions to one another arises from the fact that a problem to be solved often arises from complex factors, and what should be a solution remains too broad for application. Symbiotic knowledge is created in the process of dealing with problems whose solutions are difficult for particular problem-solvers to identify at the outset.
