Chapter 20: Smuggling panaceas by management gurus: a critical approach
AbstractCertainty is the flagship product of management gurus who offer golden universal prescriptions wrapped in popular slogans of personal and organizational success. Unfortunately, these prescriptions often turn out to be illusory and threaten the humanistic dimension of functioning of units and organizations. The objective of the chapter is a critical diagnosis of the hazards which may result from being deluded by universal prescriptions for success which are smuggled by management gurus. ‘Corporate culturism’ as an example of management panacea and corporatization of management education as a main power for gurus’ industry have been analyzed in detail.
