Chapter 11 examines the legal effect of common approaches to rescuing a project in difficulty, including the practice of de-scoping items of work and suspending activities while a resolution is found. It looks in particular at whether a ‘standstill’ is advisable, how best to record a standstill arrangement, and what such an agreement should contain. Finally, this chapter looks briefly at contract terms giving the customer a right 0f ‘step-in’.
