This chapter is written in two parts. First, the research of Jones (2009) is presented in first person context. Second, the response of Walter, also in the first person, provides a final comment from the autecologist’s perspective. We have chosen this approach to 1) retain the original critical realist prose, and 2) to highlight the views of a practising autecologist presented as pure scientific commentary.
