Extract
The Real Federación Española de Fútbol or RFEF (Royal Spanish Federation of Football) and the Federaçäo Portuguesa de Futebol or FPF (Portugese Federation of Football) built the Iberian Bid to host the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup. In order to arrange the documents for the bid, the RFEF and the FPF asked the Fundación Observatorio Económico del De porte (FOED, University of Oviedo) and the Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestão de Lisboa (ISEG) respectively to write a report divided into two parts. In the first, a qualitative valuation of the Iberian Bid was carried out and in the second, a quantitative analysis was carried out in order to assess the impact of the event in Spain and Portugal in case the bid was chosen for the organization of the 2018/2022 FIFA World Cup. This chapter corresponds to the reports made for the case of Spain and it is organized in the following way. In section 2, a review of the different economic impact studies made exclusively for football is described for the twenty-first century.
