Chapter 2: The application of kafala in the West
This chapter examines the issues of Kafala, of providing support for orphans, in the West. Kafala has become controversial in recent times, as it involves the issues of child adoption for migration purposes to Western countries. It discusses the practice and focuses on the difficulties with meeting all the requirements provided by Shari’ah, immigration law and international law.
