Chapter 8: Future prospects of social protection in India
The chapter on current approaches and issues of social protection in India indicated the existing situation of social protection in India with respect to some of the key issues and some of the recent policy concerns and initiatives that have emerged. In continuity with this discussion, this chapter seeks to highlight some of the major policy challenges and the political and administrative factors that may be expected to determine the direction of social protection policies and their implementation. The chapter concludes with a statement on the opposing forces which are likely to influence the future scenario of social protection in India.
