In continuity with this discussion, this chapter seeks to highlight some of the major policy challenges and the political and administrative factors that may be expected to determine the direction of social protection policies and their implementation. The chapter concludes with a statement on the opposing forces which are likely to influence the future scenario of social protection in India.
