Epilogue: Welcome to DYMACO

Dear Bino, Welcome to DYMACO as a new member of the team! It is great to have you here in our organization, and we believe, just as you do, that we can supply “opportunities for autonomy-creativity, and a relational culture characterized by supportive managers and good social relations.” My ambition is always to send a letter to all our new managers outlining our ideas of control in DYMACO, not least since I know of our reputation – a firm without a detailed budget. Budgets are, as you know, about allocating resources to spaces over time. So, let me first talk about time. If you want to achieve success in DYMACO, it is paramount that you develop a skill of “timing.” As you might know, Chronos was the Greek personification of time measured by equal units and without purpose, whereas Kairos was the god of the right time, that is, where time related to opportunity and intentions and was not measurable. We are a Kairos organization and not a Chronos organization, and we expect you to take opportunities without limiting yourself to a plan or, even worse, hiding behind plans already made. I want you always to ask yourself “How much value is this creating?” Working at DYMACO is about reflecting on plans made, and we expect you to make calculations as to whether the future action is necessary or not. Thus, we think of you as a business person who is able to let numbers collide into calculations.
