Chapter 1: A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down: why good content is never enough
The chapter attempts to provide economists who actively teach their discipline some suggested paths toward making the experience more palatable if not enjoyable for students. The authors emphasize three lessons. First, economics is a fascinating and rewarding discipline. Second, introductory economics courses are typically comprised of non-majors and instructors need to cater for this. Third, passion and commitment are contagious.
