Annals of Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy – 2014

A sizable gap exists between the ample demands for (and growing supply of) entrepreneurship education and our understanding of how to best approach the teaching and learning of entrepreneurship. To help close this gap, the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) has identified some of the most important and provocative work on entrepreneurship education over the years, and worked with the authors of this work to produce updated perspectives. The intent is to capture the richest insights and best practices in teaching entrepreneurship, building entrepreneurship curricula, and developing educational programs.

At Texas Christian University, entrepreneurship is more than the identification and exploitation of entrepreneurial opportunities— it’s about the process of creating value. We use a strengths-based approach to systematically train our students to identify their individual talents and virtues, and to apply them synergistically to create value within their businesses, families and society. We refer to this holistic approach as ‘Honoring the Entrepreneurial Journey’. By honoring the journey, our students are able to develop and express an entrepreneurial passion that maximizes their human potential and enables them to leave a legacy for which they can be proud. We want students from across the campus, not just the business school, to care about how they pursue opportunity and how their behavior influences others along the way.
