Economic impact studies suffer from lack of reliable data, making evaluation difficult or even misleading. The chapter first surveys various economic models adopted for measuring economic impact of cultural activities then turns to the potential of Google Trends data as the basis for assessing the impact of an event, taking the example of European Capitals of Culture.
