Italian Mafias Today
Territory, Business and Politics
Edited by Felia Allum, Isabella Clough Marinaro and Rocco Sciarrone
Abstract
This chapter explores the links that exist between political corruption and mafia-like organised crime, shedding light on modalities, resources and actors’ strategies of interaction. It provides a range of empirical examples to develop a theoretical framework able to capture the variation in these relationships in Italy across territories and over time. In the final section, it assesses some of the most recent developments of Italy’s political-criminal nexus.
