Abstract

There is a lot of interest currently around the topic of ‘patent landscaping’. The terminology is not, however, well defined, and different users mean different things. This article looks at the principle different types of exercise that can fall under the heading ‘patent landscaping’, analyses the risks and benefits attached from a practical perspective and suggests a refined taxonomy.
